Why I Liked Annapurna More Than Everest

In Nepal, both the mountains i.e. Annapurna and Everest are popular, glamorous and the best destinations for trekking. We cannot say that either of the regions is better because both the mountains are glamorous and attractive in their own way. The areas are different from each other. Mount Everest is the highest mountain peak on this planet and on the other hand Annapurna is less high as compared to Mount Everest. Bit while choosing which mountain peak is better between the two, ao there are comparisons on many terms to figure out which mountain peak is better for trekking:-

Price

If tourists visit Nepal with their concerned budget then Annapurna Base Camp is much more friendly and on budget as compared to Everest Base Camp. In terms of transport, Annapurna Base Camp is less expensive as compared to Everest Base Camp.

The trail of Annapurna is highly accessible by road only, so the transportation cost is less, food items are also of low cost.

On the other hand, the trail of Everest is accessible by flight, so the prices of transportation, food items also rise. Like cooked maggi will be of 660 NPR.

Duration

The length of the trek also matters to choose which region is better.

Annapurna Base Camp takes 7 days to complete the trek.

On the other hand, Everest Base Camp takes 12 days to complete the trek.

Everest Base Camp will increase our expenditure as it takes more days to complete the trek which means stay in a lodge for some more days, food expenses at least three times a day. For visiting the Everest Base Camp, people need to do financial planning which will be in their budget.

Difficulty

Both the Himalayan treks are difficult as well as challenging in their own way and respect. Both the treks will give a mesmerizing experience, beautiful scenic views. Trekking in Annapurna will be a trek done in remote parts of the Himalayas, whereas trekking in Everest will not be done in the remote parts of the Himalayas. While trekking on Everest, we can see the beautiful scenic views. Everest Base Camp is harder as well as challenging in comparison with Annapurna Base Camp. Both the treks required some basic mountaineering skills, mental and physical ability. Because without these basic skills no one can climb the mountains. It will be too difficult for them to survive there.

The altitude of Everest Base Camp mountain is 8,849 m.

The altitude of Annapurna Base Camp mountain is 4,130 m.

Distance

Everest Base Camp has a longer route as compared to Annapurna Base Camp.

Annapurna Base Camp route- 49 km

Everest Base Camp route- 150 km

People have to trek for three different days in Everest Base Camp for seven to eight hours each day.

People have to trek for seven hours only for one day and the rest of the day’s trek will be done under six hours only. Comparatively, Annapurna Base Camp route is shorter than Everest Base Camp route.

Peak Seasons

The peak seasons for the Everest Base Camp is from end of the month March to middle of the May i.e. spring and autumn season. Everest Base Camp is one of the attractive sites which is covered full of orange and yellow tents. Autumn is much more preferred because the views in this season are very clear and the weather is also good.

The peak seasons for the Annapurna Base Camp are from April to May and October to November i.e. same as Everest Base Camp season, spring and autumn. Autumn is much more preferred because the views in this season are very clear and the weather is also good.

Equipments

For first-time trekkers or non-experienced trekkers, there is a need for some equipment for trekking in the Himalayas. The packing items of the Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp are almost the same such as warm clothes, sleeping bags, mountaineering equipment and in equipment waterproof equipment are most preferred.

Conclusion

Both the camps i.e. Annapurna Base Camp and Everest Base Camp are good, have beautiful scenic views, are popular etc. But Everest Base Camp as compared to Annapurna Base Camp is less friendly, costly, and the duration and distance of the Everest Base Camp is also long as compared to Annapurna Base Camp. The transportation costs of Everest Base Camp is high in comparison with Annapurna Base Camp. If people want their trek to be more friendly, within their budget i.e. less expensive and give a mesmerizing experience, then they must choose the Annapurna Base Camp.
